The last thing you need to be doing right now is wandering around the internet following link recommendations, but let denial wash over you like a warm blanket and check these out.
- Savvy Content For when you need something written for you (disclaimer, this is my professional arm).
- What Suffering Does from The New York Times: “But notice this phenomenon. When people remember the past, they don’t only talk about happiness. It is often the ordeals that seem most significant. People shoot for happiness but feel formed through suffering.”
- Netflix. It’s already bookmarked on your toolbar, isn’t it? I’m liking Grace and Frankie, Narcos, Black Mirror and Schitt’s Creek.
- Don’t Take it Personally, Eckhart Tolle video. His gentle humour is beautiful as he talks about losing the ego. Look past the terrible quality of the video.
- New Scientist Magazine – a ripping good read every week. Pitched at non-science-y people like us but still read by actual scientists too. A scientist told me that.
- Argo – Not new but a fabulous film. Winner of Best Picture. An amazing true story told well.
- Pepperilly Rosé from the Pepperilly winery in the Darling Ranges just out of Perth. A lovely summery light wine that is not only easy to drink on a hot afternoon, but very inexpensive.
- Panasonic Lumix GF5 – This is simply a great camera for people who are on the go and want to take their camera with them everywhere. It’s excellent quality, easy to use, impossible to take a pad photo with.
- The Bridge – Just watch it. It’s excellent. Police officers Saga and Martin have to work together to solve a murder committed on the border of Sweden and Denmark.
- Tube-style Mascara – Great mascara that doesn’t run: It goes on and looks just like normal mascara but when it comes to taking it off there is no smudging, no rubbing. It coats each lash like a tiny tube so you just gently pull it off with warm water in the shower. I got this Blinc one here.
- Father John Misty – Cool indie singer Josh Tillman who had a hit with this but in fact the whole album, Fear Fun is fabulous. Great live.
